Thanks - I'm glad you like the new look.

It's actually because of you and Matt (I saw your 5-star reviews on Goodreads) that I decided to finally read East of Eden, so thank you!

Why didn't I realize your blog has become so fancy and cool? I love it!

Totally agree about Hornby's books. I'm glad we have a connection to Catcher. And East of Eden is one of the best books ever. In fact, I'm fairly certain if I met someone who didn't like it, then I would end that relationship. I'll let some books slide, but NOT this one.

I never did see the TV show, but I'll have to check if it's available to rent.

Glad to hear that the cases might, in fact, be logical. I'd hate to thing that my lifetime love for logic was built on a lie!

Sometimes, Scott, I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion.

Did you ever see the Encyclopedia Brown TV show? I saw a few as a kid, and I think I had a brief crush on Sally Kimball after she punched Bugs Meany. (IIRC)

The only specific case I remember was indeed pretty logical... the key was some kids' story that he was running across a field while he put his keys into his right pocket. Problem is, his right arm was broken, so he couldn't have put his keys into his RIGHT pocket with his LEFT hand while running! ... to this day, I still occasionally crossover pockets with that in mind, albeit not often while running. :-P

I am tempted to offer further encouragement to read East of Eden, but I don't want to over-hype it!

The Percy Jackson series is a pretty fun read! I'm curious how the movie version will turn out.
I remember reading a lot of Encylopedia Brown as a kid, too; like you, I wonder if they hold up to adult readers...
And East of Eden? I've seen this recommended on several blogs now. I think that may be my Steinbeck for the year.

Yeah, I'm sad I didn't like The Once and Future King as well.

Have you see Donnie Darko? It's the reason Vanessa and I met!

The great thing about I Am a Cat is that it's really just short stories, so you don't have to commit to reading the entire thing at once.

I'm glad you did this! Sad you hated The Once And Future King, though.

You loved Donnie Darko??

I'll have to read I Am A Cat eventually.
