CRISIS AVERTED

Sorry if I frightened you, internet, by removing the website for the last day. I can only imagine how many times you must have tried to access it in the last 18 hours. I know I should have warned you earlier, but everything just happened so quickly, I didn't know what else to do.

Allow me to explain - yesterday I get home from class at around 8:30 and the entire apartment smelled like it was on fire.
"Not good" I thought, and tracked the odor back to the den where the computer resides.
"The computer is on fire" was my immediate assumption, so I turned it off. You may be confused as to why I would immediately think that the computer was the problem, but recently I have been performing some upgrades (RAM, video card) and I just assumed they had gone horribly wrong.

Long story short, I return home from work today and the apartment still smells like it is on fire. I know, thank God, right? The computer is fine! In the end, it turns out they are fixing the roof of some of the apartments near us, so the whole damn complex now smells like tar. Strangely, though, the smell is only present inside the buildings.

So rest assured faithful internet - you haven't destroyed my computer yet!

Super Paper (O)M(G)ario

I'm not sure that I want a Wii yet, given the price and the available games. What am I sure of, though, is that when I do get one I will immediately pick up Super Paper Mario. There aren't words to describe how awesome this game looks. Click through the jump to see a video of it in action.

Ninjas and Mutants Know Best: What Heroes and Naruto can teach Lost

What do Heroes, a drama about humans who have undergone the next stage of evolution resulting in superpowers, Naruto, a Japanese anime centered on the life and times of a ninja in training possessed by the spirit of a demon, and Lost, a drama following plane crash survivors as they struggle against dangerous natives, supernatural monsters, and extensive mystery on an apparently deserted island, have in common? Nothing, except for the fact they are all the same style of television show: they each tease the viewer with the revelation of secrets (next week, of course), hooking their audience more thoroughly with each subsequent drop of knowledge. More importantly, however, is in what ways they are different - and why those differences result in success for Heroes and Naruto, but frustration, disappointment, and ultimately failure for Lost.
