Strider returns at dawn with Athelas to heal Frodo's wound. It helps some, but he still cannot use his arm. Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, and Bill the Pony leave Weathertop and begin their journey to Rivendell. Frodo rides the pony and his pain begins to increase, but he does not tell the others. They see no sign of the Riders.
