Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, and Bill the Pony continue their journey from Weathertop to Rivendell. There is no sign of the Black Riders. They find themselves back on the right path and decide to head back to the Road despite the danger. Along the way they discover the 3 trolls that were turned to stone after being tricked by Bilbo and Gandalf in The Hobbit. They finally meet up with Glorfindel who helps heal Frodo some and puts him on his horse. They walk through the night.

In the calendar of the Shire, there are 12 months each with 30 days, so there will be no results for the 31st of any month, and February will have entries on the 29th and 30th.
