Frodo and Co. leave Bree and begin the journey to Weathertop
In the night, the room intended for the group is invaded by Black Riders. Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, and Aragorn purchase a pony from Bill Ferny, then leave Bree and begin their journey to Weatherop. They travel East of Archet, leaving the Road. They encounter no people, only some animals.

Gandalf learns of Frodo in Bree
Black Riders invade the house at Crickhollow, and Fatty Bolger flees in terror. The Bucklanders fight back and drive the Black Riders, who now know the Ring is no longer there, and is now out of the Shire. Gandalf finds Crickhollow in an uproar and he rides towards Bree, following the Black Riders' trail. In Bree Gandalf learns Frodo left that morning with Aragorn.

In the calendar of the Shire, there are 12 months each with 30 days, so there will be no results for the 31st of any month, and February will have entries on the 29th and 30th.
